My dream lies behind the “KPD Blue” door at the top of the stairs. Today, it's the creative heart of Kathy Patton Designs—a light-filled studio where inspiration turns into timeless interiors.

But Just Two Years Ago . . .

What would become our studio was an unfinished attic filled with boxes and years of accumulated clutter. The idea for the studio came from an unexpected source: my electrician.  He had just finished installing lights in the attic so I could actually see all my junk.  He stopped, looked around, and said,  "If this were my house, I'd finish off this space."

I took his words to heart.

That one conversation stuck with me, ultimately leading to one of the biggest “before & after” transformations of my 30 years in design.

Out went years of storage; in came a vaulted ceiling, skylights, custom cabinetry, floor-to-ceiling inspiration boards, a spacious work island, and my favorite detail: a wallpaper-lined nook that makes me smile every time I walk by.

Today, the KPD Design Studio is where every project begins. Fabrics, wallpapers, and trims are layered together, ideas are refined, vision boards evolve, and beautiful, timeless interiors are intentionally designed.

Bright. Organized. Inspiring.

Every time I open the Blue Door, I'm grateful for the simple conversation that inspired something so meaningful.
